Car Not Accelerating

If your Nissan does not accelerate properly, a few different issues might be to blame. Your Nissan most likely has a problem with a component in the mechanical system, which can include the sensors or the filters that allow the engine to run smoothly and facilitate easy and fast acceleration. If a sensor fails or a filter gets dirty, and either part gets to the point where it needs to be replaced, you may find that your car needs to visit our service center for repairs. While you should always set up a service appointment if you think your car may have mechanical issues, you can also look at some common reasons why your vehicle's acceleration may be off.

Dirty Oxygen Sensor or Mass Air Flow Sensor

One problem with the engine that can impact your car's performance capability is a dirty or broken sensor. Either the mass airflow (MAF) sensor or the oxygen sensor can get contaminated or malfunction, which can cause problems with the engine. If one of the sensors goes bad, you may find that the car is less responsive when you hit the accelerator. The car may also have trouble starting, and the "Check Engine" light might also come on. If there is a problem with one of the sensors, it will need to be properly cleaned or even replaced by a mechanic so that you can drive your car without problems.

Malfunctioning Throttle Position Sensor

The throttle position sensor is another component in your car that can wear out or become contaminated and lead to further issues. The throttle position sensor has an important task to ensure that the engine has sufficient fuel supplies to keep running and operate at its peak potential. The throttle position sensor dictates the engine's performance by monitoring the position of the opening valve in the throttle sensor. If the throttle position sensor can't keep track of the opening angle, engine performance suffers, and the car can lose its ability to accelerate properly.

Clogged Fuel Filter

Usually, the fuel filter in your vehicle filters out particles of dirt, dust, pollen, and other pollutants before they can get into the engine. However, if the fuel filter is not cleaned regularly, it can't properly filter contaminants from getting into the engine. A broken or clogged fuel filter lets particles of pollutants through into the engine, which makes it run less efficiently and can ultimately cause damage.

Dirty Air Filter

The air filter is also designed to capture contaminants and keep them from working into the engine. If the air filter gets dirty, particles can enter the engine from the air and cause damage.
