2021 Nissan Altima

What's New For the 2021 Nissan Altima?

Now in its sixth generation of production, the Nissan Altima continues to be one of the better choices in the midsize sedan. Comfortable, smooth-driving, and fuel-efficient, the Altima has its available turbocharged engine restricted to the mid-level SR trim level for 2021.

2021 Altima Trims & Features

The 2021 Altima is a five-seater with cloth upholstery and an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat available in S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum models. Entering the cabin and starting the engine is a breeze due to a smart key system with a remote start and push-button engine start. Entertainment is provided with a combination of elements such as a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth, hands-free text messaging ability, a USB port and an audio jack for wired mobile device connectivity, and a 7-inch touchscreen.

For an enhancement from the base S, go with the SR, on which Nissan introduces a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, SiriusXM Radio service, three additional USB ports, and an 8-inch touchscreen interface. In addition, the SR is the lone trim with racing-style seats. The SL brings the Altima into the luxury territory-with enhancements such as leather set trim, front-seat, and steering-wheel heating, driver-seat power lumbar support, a four-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, two more SiriusXM services (with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link), and a nine-speaker Bose stereo system. Only the top-level Platinum has driver-seat memory, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a garage-door opener.

2021 Nissan Altima Horsepower

The base engine on the 2021 Altima is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 182 horsepower on the Platinum and 188 horsepower on the other trims. The previously mentioned turbo engine-which can be had on the SR-displaces 2.0 liters and provides 248 horsepower. Both engines are tied to continuously variable transmissions for smooth driving and acceleration.

Nissan Altima Safety

At the base level, the 2021 Altima gets the ProPILOT Assist suite of driver-assistance technologies, including forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, high beam assist, and lane intervention, and driver alertness warning. Joining these driver safety aids are cruise control and a rearview camera. Eight airbags are present for crash protection.

Active ride control, a head-up display, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, trace control, and rear parking sensors appear at the SV trim level. For traffic sign recognition, go with either the SL or the Platinum. A surround-view parking camera system replaces the rearview camera on the Platinum.
