What's New For the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder?

The three-row Nissan Pathfinder strikes the right balance between luxury and functionality. It entered its fourth generational status in 2013, and since then, a few significant upgrades have kept it competitive in the family-size SUV class. Last year, the Pathfinder trims added a few notable features, and additional driver aids were now standard on several trims. Also, USB-C ports were included on several of the trims. For 2020, the Rock Creek Edition has received an appearance upgrade.

The Nissan Pathfinder Has Many Features Across Several Trims

The 2020 Nissan Pathfinder is available in four trims. The base S trim comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, tri-zone climate control, and keyless ignition. The split-folding second-row seat also slides and reclines. An 8-inch screen display, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker sound system with HD and satellite radio are also included. Dual USB ports are located in both the front and rear seating areas. The SV trim adds on foglights, automatic headlights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Package options include the addition of heated side mirrors, heated front seats, and a trailering hitch receiver plus wiring harness.

The SL trim boasts the inclusion of the SV options packages and adds LED headlights, leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, a power liftgate, and a 360-degree parking camera. The Rock Creek Edition gets its own unique styling elements. The range-topping Platinum trim comes with all of the options available on the lower trims and adds wood interior trim, ventilated seats, and a power-adjustable steering wheel. A rear-seat entertainment system with dual 8-inch headrest display screens is optional.

2020 Pathfinder Power & Performance

2020 Nissan PathfinderA 3.5L V6 powers the 2020 Pathfinder. This engine produces a total of 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but buyers can choose all-wheel drive regardless of trim level. All-wheel drive Pathfinders come with hill descent control and a locking function for extra traction. Moderate acceleration is effortless thanks to the broad torque band and smooth shifting of the CVT. Drivers will like the easy operation of the shift controller that includes a selector knob for 2WD, 4WD Lock, and 4WD Auto settings. The V6 provides more torque than one would expect, and low-speed driver control is superior to what is experienced in many competing models.

Which Safety Features are Available on the 2020 Pathfinder?

2020 Nissan PathfinderEvery 2020 Nissan Pathfinder comes with front, front-side, and rear airbags, stability and traction control, antilock brakes, rear door child safety locks, and a rearview camera. Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is standard even on the base trim. The SV trim adds on adaptive cruise control and most of the available driver aids plus navigation. The SL and Platinum trims include all driver aids as standard. The emergency braking system included in all Pathfinder trims is controlled by a set of four radar monitors. The standard driver aid package found in the SL and Platinum trims includes an advanced blind-spot monitoring system. The NHTSA awarded the 2019 Pathfinder a perfect five stars for overall crash protection, and the 2020 models are expected to score similarly.
