What's New for the 2019 Nissan Versa?

The 2019 Versa is basically unchanged from the previous year, but the SV Special Edition trim gets more features. The base and SV models maintain the same features from the previous year.

Which Trims and Features are Available in 2019?

The Versa has three available trims: S, S Plus and SV. The base S is designed for the budget conscious buyer and includes 15-inch steel rims, Bluetooth, a USB port, power mirrors, a backup camera, manual windows and locks, a four-speaker audio system, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and an auxiliary audio jack. Many of these features you would not expect on a subcompact base model vehicle. Unfortunately, this trim does not offer any optional packages or stand-alone features.

The S Plus does not change much but it does add a continuously variable automatic transmission(CVT), rear spoiler, and cruise control. The SV upgrades to a cloth interior, power windows, a driver armrest, power locks, keyless entry, split folding rear seat, and chrome exterior door handles. The SV's Special Edition package includes a leather steering wheel, 15-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition, fog lights, smartphone integration for Apple and Android, Easy-Fill Tire Alert system, height-adjustable driver seat, and a car immobilizer system.

The interior for all trims is very spacious and it has a large rear seat. The ride is quite comfortable and soft for a vehicle in this class. The trunk has 14.9 cubic feet of space and is bigger than most vehicles in its class. The trunk opening allows for easy loading and unloading cargo.

Gas-Saving Engine with Good Performance

You don't buy a Versa for speed and power but it does have an adequate 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 109 hp and 107 lb-ft of torque. The base S is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The higher trims feature a standard CVT. All models are front-wheel drive only.

Nissan Versa Safety Features

Although the Nissan Versa is a subcompact, it affords good protection in the event of a crash. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety(IIHS) gave the Versa its highest overall rating of good for crash tests. The final ratings by the NHTSA are expected to be similar.
