How to Use Nissan Climate Control Seats
As automotive technology gets more advanced, features previously thought to only be on luxury vehicles inevitably get more common. One such feature is climate control seats as found standard on all Nissan vehicles. These ventilated seats provides both heating and cooling, depending on what you need. If it's cold outside, you can warm up the seats quickly to get relief. On hot days, you can do the opposite.
How Do Climate Control Seats Work?
Even though heated and cooled seats have been in luxury models for a long time, the technology that makes them work isn't incredibly expensive or complicated. It's very similar to an electric blanket. There's a heating element placed beneath the upholstery. When the element gets an electrical current, it heats the seat and warms the person. A freezing seat in the winter is uncomfortable, but leather and faux-leather upholstery in the summer can be impossible to sit in without burning your skin. Cooled seats offer porous upholstery that allows cooled air to fan through the seat channels. Your scorching hot seat will soon be transformed into something comfortably cool.
How to Use These Features
Using the controls on climate-controlled seats depends on your Nissan model and trim. In general, you'll find a climate-control button on the center console. The symbol is usually a blue chair with red and blue bars to illustrate the heating and cooling aspects. Red is hot, and blue is cold. If the vehicle has more than one seat with climate control, there will be knobs or buttons for each one. In general, you can turn the control to the left to cool the seats and turn it to the right to heat them. This is similar to the general heating and cooling controls. You'll see an indicator light when everything is working correctly. Remember to shut off anything that uses power, including climate control seats, before shutting off your engine.
