To commemorate the release of the heavily revised 2017 Nissan GT-R, the automaker built a new GT-R Drone capable of keeping up with the high-performance supercar. Labeled one of the fastest First Person View racing drones in the world, the GT-R Drone recently had the chance to go head-to-head against the 2017 GT-R in the ultimate track battle.

A race tuned configuration and low-drag canopy gives the GT-R Drone the ability to launch from 0 to 62 mph in just 1.3 seconds. It also features a race-spec quadcopter frame, four propellers and 2000kV XNova motors, which help it reach speeds of up to 114 mph.

Due its performance offerings, when put up against the Euro-spec 2017 GT-R, which comes equipped with a twin-turbo 3.8L V6 and car reach a top speed of 195 mph, the GT-R Drone is able to hold its own. To prove this, the drone recently raced the GT-R supercar on a 1.2-mile course at Silverstone, where it got to show off its skills.

Take a look at the video above to see how the GT-R Drone matched up against the 2017 GT-R during their race at Silverstone. With Nissan NISMO driver Ricardo Sanchez at the wheel of the GT-R and 2015 British National Drone Racing champion James Bowle piloting the drone, it was an impressive race and an absolute must-see.
