The Nissan Juke has had a successful career since its start five years ago, and to celebrate that success and the SUV’s fifth anniversary, Nissan enlisted British artist Owen Gildersleeve to create an art piece that’s just as one-of-a-kind as the vehicle it portrays.
Gildersleeve’s life-size Origami Juke was an incredible feat and the final result is quite amazing. He and a group of assistants were able to mirror the current Juke’s dimensions and styling elements, such as the attractive headlights, large fenders and grille that make the SUV’s front fascia one of the sharpest looking in its class.
Altogether, the Origami Juke took about 200 hours to make and 2,000 pieces of paper to put together. Gildersleeve said the project was hard but rewarding work and that it had several influences; in particular, he explained that the origami was inspired by Nissan’s Japanese heritage and that the many pieces of paper used to design the project were symbolic of all the people who helped bring the Juke to fruition back in 2011.
