A lot of big changes, that’s what. Sources have already revealed that the 2016 LEAF EV will have greater range, some speculate up to 35 miles more range in fact. That’s a significant increase that auto experts believe will spike the car’s already magnetic appeal.

There’s even more good news for shoppers, too. In addition to a range boost, the 2016 Nissan LEAF is getting a styling refresh. There aren’t a lot of details in regard to this, but the brand’s chief designer Mamoru Aoki told Automotive News that it will retain its hatchback body style, but show off a less angular look. He even gave a nod to the Tesla Model S sedan’s design in the same interview, which is something to ponder.

More recently, additional news regarding a possible crossover SUV variant of the LEAF also surfaced, which is pretty exciting if the rumors are true. In an interview with Autocar last month, Nissan’s Executive Vice President, Trevor Mann, said flat out: "There could be more than one Leaf. We’ve always said it needn’t be one car." But he didn’t exactly confirm anything either, noting that the company is "still studying other opportunities."

Whatever changes the second-generation does have in store are sure to be exciting and we can’t wait to hear more facts (and speculations) about its updates!
