For the fourth consecutive year, Nissan has been recognized for its achievements in sustainability. Improving energy management and reducing greenhouse gas emissions has been a key focus of Nissan’s business plan for many years, and the automaker continues to come up with new ways to further its commitment to improving the environment.
Just one example of this is Nissan’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint by 20 percent by 2016; the Nissan Green Program is working in partnership with ENERGY STAR to achieve this. Nissan’s assembly plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, was also recently awarded the ENERGY STAR Certification for the ninth consecutive year, an honor that recognizes the plant’s superior energy management.
In its plants, Nissan makes efforts to reduce energy usage by doing things like switching to LED lights and mending compressed air leaks. Its plants also use an innovative and eco-friendly paint process that has reduced energy usage by 30 percent. For all of these reasons and more, Nissan was honored with the 2015 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award, and with the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability we’re it will win once again next year, too!
